Scholarship Program
Nursing education is one of the objectives of the PNAO, Inc. To fulfill that objective,
we are raising funds to award scholarship money to qualified student nurses enrolled
in an undergraduate program, or to a registered nurse enrolled in a graduate program.
A scholarship award will be granted every year or 2 awards for the 2 year presidential term.
CRITERIA FOR EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE:
1. Ohio or Philippine residency
2. At least 50% Filipino ethnicity
3. Demonstration of financial need
4. Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate nursing program
5. Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, if already enrolled
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1. The PNAO, Inc. will give two (2) scholarship awards in the amount of $500 each to a qualified applicant in the
academic year and must be recommended by a PNAO Member.
2. The student may apply if he/she is a relative of a PNAO member.
3. The student will be an associate member of the PNAO, Inc.
4. The student will fill out an application form to be considered for the scholarship award.
5. The student will write an essay, one (1) page, single space, on his/her vision of nursing.
6. Submit a copy of most recent GPA via transcript.
7. The student will show proof of financial need:
• Most current copy of income tax form from parents or from student if applicable
• How many siblings are currently in school
• Is the candidate currently working
• If working, what is gross income via copy of pay check stub
8. Meet deadline ~ one (1) month before Induction Ball date ~ the scholarship award date.
9. The Scholarship & Education Committees will meet three (3) weeks before the scholarship award date and
decide on the awardees.
10. The decision of half, 50% of the Scholarship & Education Committees is final.
11. The summary of recipient’s (awardees) educational information will be included in the
souvenir program of the Induction Ball.
12. The awardees must submit to PNAO after 6 months, of their accomplishments and their intent to graduate
from their nursing program.
