Philippine Nurses Association of Ohio, Inc.
|
Hello and good evening to all PNAO members, to my loving family, dear
friends, and guests. I am proud to be inducted as the 10th President of
the Philippine Nurses Association of Ohio. Two years ago I was asked to
become President Elect by Lilian Palanca at a time when my life was at a
crossroads. It was a busy time in my life as I was nearing graduation from
Kent State University’s Nurse Practitioner program but I agreed as this was
another challenge I was destined to conquer.
As a young lady, I followed my mother’s footsteps to become a nurse and
now I continue to follow her footsteps as the next president of PNAO and
the daughter of the founder of PNAO. I have some pretty big shoes to fill
as the past presidents of PNAO have paved a sturdy road for me. I hope
to fulfill their expectations as a productive and engaging president.
As my mantra, “membership engagement as the key to success” implies, I
will strive to engage our members in activities that will accomplish the goals
of PNAO and PNAA. Specifically, I will continue to ensure that Filipino
nurses are portrayed in a positive and professional manner. In addition, I
will strive for increased membership participation in educational and
community events.
Tonight I am especially proud and excited to present our two newly
inducted subchapters in Ohio: PNAO Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky
and PNAO Central Ohio. Our subchapters are led by their presidents
who are here tonight, Christine Dimaculangan from Cincinnati/NKY and
Bolet Villanueva from Central Ohio. Our subchapter formation would not
be a success without their founders Suzy Hussey and Cora Munoz. I
especially would like to thank our subchapter formation chairman, Bessie
Schiroky for all her persistence and hard work to make this a reality for
Ohio. It is an honor to have our new subchapters presented tonight.
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky and Central Ohio are not “just subchapters”
they are PNAO. We are all united in Ohio for the same goal which is to
uphold the image and foster the welfare of Filipino nurses as a
professional group.
This is a special night for Ohio. Let us enjoy each other’s company and
celebrate nurses especially Filipino nurses in the state of Ohio. Nurses will
continue to be a vital force in the health care system! Be proud!
Thank you for attending this special celebration and induction,
Audrey T. Godoy RN, MSN, CNP,
PNAO President 2010-2012
